This is a static representation of the Sangamon County Boundary. Sangamon County has been in its present form since March 2, 1843. When the Athens and Rock Creek areas were removed from Sangamon County and added to Menard County (Menard County was created from Sangamon County in 1839). Sangamon County was originally created on January 30, 1821. This Layer is updated once a year in the spring. The Corporate Limits are maintained by the Supervisor of Assessment's office from recorded annexations. There are 25 Villages and two Cities in Sangamon County.
