County Boundary
The Official Sangamon County Boundary. This is a static representation of the Sangamon County Boundary. Sangamon County has been in its present form since March 2, 1843. When the Athens and Rock Creek areas were removed from Sangamon County and added to Menard County (Menard County was created from Sangamon County in 1839). Sangamon County was originally created on January 30, 1821. Since that time the county configuration was changed five times (1823, 1825, 1835, 1839 and 1843).

Professional Land Surveyor Townships and Sections: as surveyed by the Original Land Surveyors of Illinois according to the rules set forth by Edward Tiffin.
Corporate Limits
Sangamon County Corporate Limits. This Layer is updated once a year in the spring. The Corporate Limits are maintained by the Supervisor of Assessment's office from recorded annexations. There are 25 Villages and two Cities in Sangamon County. After the annexations are incorporated into the Official SOA Featureclass, this layer will be updated by being Overwritten
